the cycle of digital sharing

"I wanted to create a completely analogue piece that would be translated virtually through scanning. Much of the book uses pixelated/digital aesthetics combined with physical work (drawings, collage, physical sculpture). For some photos I used images I created in the video game minecraft, and images I created in dress up games. I also included a printed photo of me playing minecraft to further emphasize that transformation of the digital into the physical.

I wanted to make a book in order to show the sentimentality of the work, so it acts as sort of a photo diary. I was working with themes involving internet and post digital aesthetics through the lens of my personal style. This piece acts as a discussion of the cycle of digital sharing: something digital turns physical, then back to digital again. I was really happy with the overall result of the book, but I think I would change a couple things to expand it further. I wish I had printed out photos of the book, then took photos of the prints to turn it digital once again.

This project was a lot of fun and I plan on creating more collaged zines in the future."
