The Rogue River Eagles did not score in the Third Quarter. But thanks to the Eagles’ tough, well coached, well-positioned Defense, after Huygens early Second Half touchdown, neither did The IC Chips. The score remained Huygens 24 - Rogue River 17.

"Sportscasters would call this a good game", Griff remarked to Durango, "but heading into the 4th quarter, I prefer to be ahead by at least two touchdowns."

The problem was not just in the Red Zone. The Eagles were halting River's drives before they got to the place from which Will could regularly reliably kick. It was not just The Marshall himself. LeRaven Dodge's ability -- to lead Eagles’ Cornerbacks and Safeties directly to about-to-be-flattened moving forces of the opposition -- was legendary.

B2 was limping. Jerry was consistently forced out of bounds; Dejuan was heavily guarded. Suddenly, Griff and Durango looked simultaneously at the bench where Backup Quarterback Damian Jefferson Tyler was sitting. Catching? Damian was not good at that. Power Running Back? That he could do.

Third and 12. Timeout. Dead ball. Damian officially substituted for B2. B2 was resting on the bench with a towel over his head. Big Dog snapped the ball to River. Damian took the ball that River handed him; knocked down a Defensive End and two tackles; started running. Not long after he crossed midfield, he ran into LeRaven Dodge.

Damian wanted to stop and seriously flatten The Marshall, but this was not how Griff had described the play. "Just get as far past the Rogue River 40 as you can," Coach had said.

In The End Zone, although his ambition was to be a legendary Black Hockey Goalie, Damian held up the football triumphantly. Will kicked the extra point perfectly though the goal posts. Luke threw him a kiss.

arrow Griff waved to Caydance. Huygens 31 - Rogue River 17. Eight minutes remained in the 4th Quarter.
