In the stands of Wolves Stadium, beside Mira and Caydance were the remains of the Greek picnic that River’s parents had gifted them: phyllo-wrapped spinach and feta spanakopita; grape leaves stuffed with lemon rice, olive oil, green onions, dill and mint; Greek roast chicken; Greek village-style bread; phyllo-wrapped baklava, dripping with honey and nuts, and a small bottle of retsina, which there was no need to disguise because Wolves Stadium was lenient with adult-consumed beverages.
